Para Aramid and Meta Aramid Series Products Manufacturer
Meta-aramid spun yarn is a type of spun yarn made from meta-aramid staple fibers. Here is a detailed account:
Definition and Composition
Meta-aramid spun yarn is primarily composed of meta aramid fibers. These fibers are aromatic polyamide fibers, with the full name of polyisophthalic meta-phenylenediamine fiber, abbreviated as PMIA. They are also known as aramid 1313, Nomex, Conex, etc.
Manufacturing Process
Meta-aramid short fibers go through a series of spinning processes including blow room, carding, pre-drawing, drawing, combing, roving, spinning and winding to form meta aramid spun yarn.
Properties
- Physical Properties
- Density: It has a relatively low density, which makes the products made from it lightweight, facilitating processing and use.
- Appearance: The fibers are closely structured, resulting in textiles with an excellent flatness and smoothness, presenting an upscale visual texture.
- Mechanical Properties
- Strength: It possesses high breaking strength, and the tensile property of the spun yarn is excellent, enabling it to withstand substantial pulling force.
- Flexibility: It has a certain degree of flexibility, being less prone to breakage during processing and use, and can adapt to a certain degree of bending and deformation.
- Chemical Properties
- Stability: It has good chemical stability, being able to resist various chemical corrosions and oxidations. It shows excellent acid and alkali resistance, maintaining good performance in harsh chemical environments.
- Flame Retardancy: With an extremely high flame retardancy, its limited oxygen index is greater than 28%. It will not continue to burn after leaving the flame, and its flame retardant performance will not decrease or be lost due to time or washing.
- Thermal Properties
- High-Temperature Resistance: It can be continuously used at 205°C. Even at temperatures above 205°C, it can still maintain relatively high strength. It will not shrink, embrittle, soften or melt when exposed to 300°C for a short time.
- Stability: It performs stably in high-temperature environments, with minimal dimensional changes and is hardly affected by temperature variations.
Applications
- Protective Clothing: It is used to make fire-resistant and heat-insulating protective clothing such as fire fighting suits, high-temperature work clothes, welding clothes, as well as military combat uniforms and police anti-riot suits.
- Aerospace: It can be used to produce interior materials of aircraft and spacecraft like seat covers and curtains. Its lightweight and flame-retardant properties meet the special requirements of the aerospace field.
- Automotive: It can be used as automotive interior materials such as seat fabrics and carpets. It is also used as reinforcing material for high-performance automotive components such as brake pads and clutch discs.
- Electronics and Electrical: It is used to make insulating materials for electrical equipment like motors, transformers and reactors. Its good insulation and high-temperature resistance ensure the normal operation of electrical equipment.
- High-Temperature Filtration: It is suitable for making high-temperature filtration materials in industrial waste gas filtration and high-temperature air filtration, effectively filtering impurities and harmful substances in high-temperature environments.
